OK, here's the short story of it:
  • 90%+ of Recruiters use LinkedIn exclusively to find qualified candidates which includes Admin Assistants and Executive Assistances and others including C Level Corporate officers and across all fields.  If you like Unemployment stay off LinkedIn or do a horrible job creating your Profile.

  • LinkedIn was designed for global professional networking.  You can find a job in Memphis by talking to people in Memphis you and they know.  You can also find a job in Memphis by contacting people OUTSIDE the United States in larger companies.  THIS IS THE NEW WORLD OF HOW COMPANIES WORK.

  • LinkedIn offers FREE Video Training sessions on Wednesdays via Internet.  On Wednesday you can attend a LIVE SESSION -OR- you can view recorded sessions -OR- you can do both!

  • Managers may have positions open in the Memphis area but may work and live in another City or State.  THIS IS THE NEW WORLD OF HOW COMPANIES WORK. 

  • Many GOOD jobs are not posted on the Job Boards.  You have to network and leverage Social Media to find those that are "off the radar".  THIS IS THE NEW WORLD OF HOW COMPANIES WORK.

  • Local companies are charging $175 per person to hear this type of information yet only talk for ONE HOUR and there is a waiting list.  For a minimum of THREE HOURS I am letting you keep $500 in your pocket, give you more time, answer more questions and you still have $25 for lunch!  And we don't have a parking charge!

TO MAKE THIS SESSION BENEFICIAL TO THOSE ATTENDING:
  1. You must have a LinkedIn Profile created BEFORE coming to this class.

    We're not going to waste time on things you can learn and do while at home.
    We have too much to communicate and show on this date so anticipate it running late.

  2. You must have the information from your Resume entered into your LinkedIn Profile.
    Remember, this should look attractive, professional and be organized so just don't slam your Resume into the LinkedIn form!  Those who "cut corners" cut their job opportunities accordingly.

    Use Microsoft Word (or similar tools) because:
    (a) you can save your work for additional changes later,
    (b) you can use Spell Checker and Grammar Checker since LinkedIn does not offer those,
    (c) you create real bullets that can copy/paste directly into LinkedIn's form.

    To be found you need keywords and a good Resume will have many keywords which include:
    (a) Companies and Job Titles you held at those companies,
    (b) Special skills, machines, software, design or creative work, etc. that you are good at,
    (c) Accomplishment statements showing awards/recognition for your success,
    (d) List of Certifications (and numbers) and Academic Accomplishments,
    (e) Other experiences or items that make you a person they need to be talking to.

  3. Bring at least two copies of your Resume so we can see how you're transitioning information.

  4. It is perfectly legal and ethical to look at other LinkedIn Profiles, see what looks good and use the same approach they did with your Profile.  Learn from others to improve yourself.

  5. Please refrain from bringing laptops as (a) it will slow down the response time and (b) we don't have time to teach typing or laptop basics.  This is about how to be successful using LinkedIn.

2015 is starting the year upbeat as staffing reductions were at the lowest point in December in MANY years.  US Business Outlook is better now than the past several years despite concerns outside the US.  The US has led the world out of Recessions before which means people have to be hired to get there.
You must get positioned quickly to leverage this opportunity.  Dig deep, get focused, and PUSH FORWARD.

DIRECTIONS TO THE ROOM:
·  Use the parking lot in the southwest area of the Church facing Walnut Grove in the 
     vicinity of Entrance 1 (area facing Walnut Grove and near the Power Lines)
·  Enter the Church using the doors on the RIGHT side of Entrance 1 (see illustration below)
·  Upon entry make two quick RIGHT turns where you will see stairs to the second floor
·  At the top of the stairs, turn RIGHT and go through the double doors.  Enter the first
    door on your RIGHT.  Walk down the hallway.  Room 224 is the second door on your LEFT.
