Second Saturday is a program exclusively for members of The CT Groups
RESUMES to LINKEDIN
Brush up your Resume, bring copy on a "thumb drive" or e-mail
a copy to KSimont@bellsouth.net and bring paper copies of
your resume plus your LinkedIn sign-on credentials.
It is expected this session will run beyond Noon.
Selected resumes will be presented, with permission, as examples.
Are you uncomfortable showing your resume to people you know but mail it out to people you don’t know for a job?
This pattern is not uncommon in career transition as people are reluctant to show others their resume. We need to get over that real quick. 95% to 98% of resumes are either “junk” or “unqualified” and the sad thing is this can be fixed if you want it fixed.
For Second Saturday for March 14th we are going to look at real resumes, discuss ideas for improvement then move at least one resume into a LinkedIn Profile as a stronger building block.
Starting at 10:30 AM (or so) we want show you how to transfer this into actionable steps.
During the meeting we will have two people who will review your resume for potential areas of improvement. If you put work into in advance of the meeting you will certainly get better value from this time. We will use an extension monitor for one workstation and the projection screen for the other.
Meanwhile you can discuss your resume with others attending for their feedback and see what others have done and how they did it. A physically attractive resume is like an attractive art work; the eye is compelled to look at it. Create your resume in a sell structured easy to read document clearly showing the divisions expected in a resume that has consistency in appearance and structure. Sound impossible? Not really.
When we have reviewed resumes up to 10:30 AM we will look at some of the better working resumes, discuss their strength and show how this can be transferred into LinkedIn with minimal effort. We also want to discuss how to select and join Groups and why these are important to you along with Recommendations and Endorsements.
Depending on the number of people who attend this meeting is expected to run longer than Noon. Depending on the number of people who attend this meeting we may not be able to review all Resumes. But we can all learn from what others have done and how it can be improved upon. The only bad Resume is one that is not being improved upon or one that is not generating interview requests.
The sad thing is we know there is talent out there
that simply is not being shown correctly through their Resume and LinkedIn.
Make no mistake, this is an investment you must make in yourself by putting
time and effort into it. This investment may be the best one you make for
years to come.
