If at first you don't succeed ... repeat the same mistakes?

It's the old line, "You don't know what you don't know".  Yet so many are absolutely convinced they know how to get a job and are doing all the right things.  Yet they don't know what they don't know.

What they don't know, or may have forgotten, is that things changed radically in 2008.  What changed?
  • the economy has improved but it still not healthy, business is worried over government actions and inactions, employers do not have an understanding of future directions
  • employers are utilizing low to no cost channels to recruit or directly find qualified candidates versus paying high fees to job boards that generate hundreds of unqualified applicants
  • greater expectation that a candidate is "Job Ready Day 1" - able to hit the ground running
  • a government commitment to jobs being "Priority 1" has had 4 different people in charge so far
  • resumes MUST be job requirements focused ... there is no alternative for success

If you're not getting interview requests, are you ready to try something different?
People are being hired for good paying jobs.  Are you REALLY in the competition?

For Second Saturday on April 12 we are going to ask what the attendees are doing and offer suggestions on how:
  1. they can take a different approach,
  2. use a different method,
  3. think of a different way,
  4. do different things
  • We will look at the numbers and discuss how to turn around numbers to help your job search
  • We will discuss new tools to help you with requirements failures
  • We will reinforce the importance of the "pristine qualified resume"
  • We will revisit the power of networking and how to network
We hope to, during the meeting, take a look at resumes provided to provide ideas on making an impact on Recruiters versus using the same tired words and low value messages so many are making.  Submit your Resume PRIOR to NOON Central Time April 11, 2014 for consideration in Word format to the moderators at 2SAT-CT-Owner@yahoogroups.com

Let's discuss acceptable formatting and even psychology that you can use to help advance your resume to become a candidate versus one of the 95% to 98% that go nowhere (regarded as unqualified or "junk").

In Roulette if you play the same number for each wheel spin and do so consistently over a long enough time without stopping, you will eventually be a winner for that wheel spin.  Placing the same resume down on enough jobs over a long enough time without stopping DOES NOT mean you will be a winner.  Waiting for things to get better is not a winning strategy.

Winners can eat donuts while others scavenge for crumbs.
