I-9 Form

  1. Every new employee must complete and present their I-9 Form for verification by their new
employer within 3 days of their start date.  Failure to do so can result in loss of your job.

SECRET:  1)  DOWNLOAD AND PRINT OFF THE FORMS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE LINKS BELOW:                               I-9 "Paper document"

                  2)  Begin collecting the documents from LIST A or LIST B AND LIST C IMMEDIATELY

                  3)  You can complete Page 1 of the I-9 Document to assist in entering the information
on-line at your employer's office with the I-9 Verifier (an employee who has been
                       trained in the I-9 Process).

Bring your documents for Page 2 but DO NOT WRITE ON PAGE 2.

  2. REVIEW PAGE 3 NOW
Page 3 of the I-9 "Paper document" identifies what documents you need to find.
IF YOU HAVE AN ITEM FROM LIST "A", such as a current USA Visa, this is all you will need.
Check the expiration date to avoid problems later.

  3. IF YOU HAVE AN ITEM FROM LIST "B" AND "C" this is all you will need.
Make sure the documents are readable, current and not laminated.
List B can be satisified with a current Drivers License or 11 other items listed
List C can be satisified with any of the 8 items listed including a Social Security Card

TO WORK YOU NEED A 2017 I-9 FORM
THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND SUBMITTED

This is not a President Trump document but one from many years ago.  This simply
validates you are here legally and can be employed.
But if not filed and accepted in your first 3 working days, you could be fired.

   SUGGESTION:
Have a photocopy of your documents protects you but is not acceptable to submit.
Because of the rule changes, insure you have a photocopy of each document you
present, a copy of the form being submitted, and any proof of delivery of that form
to the government.  Things are new and "stuff" can become lost.  The best defense
is an iron clad offense from presenting evidence then asking "where did it go?"

STEP 1:    As of Jan 21 there is a problem with the I-9 form that can be directly
entered into; the responsible Agency has been informed.

In this section, there are links to prepare you for the I-9 documentation
process.  This includes the following with links:

I-9 "Paper document" you can use to enter your information in advance
of meeting with your employer to complete this form, often on-line.
This also helps you locate the original documents per the law.

I-9 Documentation, Rules, and Documentation Descriptions.
This document is substantially longer and more complex than prior
versions under the watch of the prior President.

STEP 1A:  This is the ideal process as it allows you to enter directly into the form from
                   your PC or Tablet.

The new form REQUIRES Adobe Acrobat Reader Release 8 of higher.
If you do not have this level, the document cannot be viewed.
You can get a free download of this product by going to:

https://get.adobe.com/reader/

NOTE:  If you do not use McAfee Security or True Key from Intel Security,
you will also receive a FREE DOWNLOAD of these products with the
download and install of the Acrobat Reader.

YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE DOWNLOADS TO COMPLETE BEFORE MOVING
FORWARD.  THIS STARTS WITH ACKNOWLEDGING THE DOWNLOAD AS BEING
COMPLETED AT THE BROWER PAGE DOING THE ADOBE DOWNLOAD.
FAILURE TO DO SO WILL FRUSTRATE YOU.
                         .
Your Tip:  Make sure you have documentation when you leave that you have been
processed and that the Certified I-9 Verifier approved your documents.
Sometimes there are multiple agencies involved BEFORE they arrive to
the government.  Strange stuff can happen so keep solid documentation.

After all, you only have your new job at risk if things go badly.
