Cover Letters

NEVER FORGET YOUR COVER LETTER

NEVER FORGET YOUR COVER LETTER

This is how they learn what a great fit you are for them and invite you to the interview.

First impressions are important.  Invest your time to craft your Cover Letter making it
the best possible document you can produce. Many Recruiters will pass on a Resume if
the Cover Letter doesn't identify all the things they are looking for.  Yet, it's tough.
And worse when you need to contain your letter to one side of one sheet of paper.

Same general rules applied to Cover Letters as Resumes:
     1)  Good quality paper, some linen content - 8.5" x 11"
     2)  Light pastel colors are preferred over all white or other colors
     3)  Use traditional fonts that are readable
     4)  Do not use less than 10 point, nothing higher than 16
     5)  Do not use more than 3 font sizes or styles
     6)  Color in fonts is acceptable but use it for major sections or key words
Avoid red as it is associated with DANGER, RISK, and other negatives
     7)  Buy matching envelopes for the letter

Tedious, yet mandatory: writing a cover letter to pitch your qualifications and your
personality in only a few paragraphs is usually the most difficult part of applying for a job.

The worst part: as a general rule of thumb, a cover letter can make or break your likelihood
to get called in for an interview.

And like, really, for sure, make certain you use only the bestest working for your letter.
